Silken Tofu Mousse Ingredients:
This ingredients list won’t take long. Here goes:
- Silken Tofu
- Dark chocolate
- Maple syrup
I also like to add a little pinch of salt but that is totally optional.
How to Make Silken Tofu Mousse
This is a simple recipe to make. The first step is to melt the dark chocolate.
I like to go old school with this, using the method my mum used to use for making rice crispy cakes for my pre-double digit birthday parties.
I break the chocolate into pieces and place it in a large bowl. Then I put a pot with some boiling water on the hob on a gentle simmer and sit the bowl into the pot. The bowl should be the appropriate size to sit into the pot but stay above the water level.
The steam from the gently simmering water then heats the bottom of the bowl and melts the chocolate.
You can place a bowl with the broken chocolate into the microwave for 30 second intervals, giving a stir each time, until the chocolate is fully melted.
Once fully melted, leave the chocolate aside to cool a little.
Next place the silken tofu into another bowl along with the maple syrup and whip with an electric whisk or hand whisk. You can also use a food processor for this. Keep whipping until the silken tofu has a smooth consistency and looks like cream.
Once the chocolate has cooled for a few minutes, add the chocolate to the bowl along with the silken tofu, and whip until everything is fully mixed.
Pour into ramekins or small bowls and stick into the fridge for around one hour to set and cool.
Serve with your favourite toppings.
3 Ingredient Silken Tofu Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 300 g silken tofu
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Break the chocolate into pieces and place into a bowl. Then melt by placing the bowl sitting in a pot with some water on a gentle simmer so the heat from the steam heats the bowl and melts the chocolate. The bowl should be big enough to sit over the pot without being submerged in the water.
- Once the chocolate is fully melted, set aside to cool for a few minutes.
- Add the silken tofu to a separate bowl along with the maple syrup. Whip until the silken tofu breaks down into a whipped cream like smooth consistency, either using a hand whisk, electric whisk or electric blender. You can also use a food processor for this.
- Once the chocolate has cooled for a few minutes, add to the bowl with the silken tofu and whip with whatever method used until the mixture has the consistency of a smooth mousse.
- Spoon into separate ramekins or bowls and leave to set in the fridge for an hour.
- Serve with some toppings you like such as raspberries and shredded coconut.
