This is a tasty and quick breakfast that is high in protein and ready in less than 5 minutes. Perfect for when running out the door. Can keep yu going till lunch with under 250 calories.

Like Greek style yoghurt made from dairy, Greek style soya yoghurt is also low in fat and a pretty good source of protein. There is 10g of protein in half a tub (250g), so adding another source of protein such as seeds can provide a pretty high protein breakfast.

For this quick breakfast, I mix the soya yoghurt with plant based protein powder for an extra high protein breakfast. I then add some berries, which are delicious with so many health benefits. I try to eat a portion of berries once a day.

Plant Based Protein

Breakfast is usually the meal of the day that is lowest in protein, especially if it doesn’t include meat or eggs. Adding some protein powder to your breakfast is a great way to boost the protein of this meal, and may help keep you full for longer.

I like to use a plant based protein powder like this Lean Green Protein, which is made from peas and doesn’t contain thickeners, gums or other additives that a lot of protein powders contain.

Preparing the Soya Yoghurt with Protein and Berries

To make this breakfast, I add the soya yoghurt to a bowl and add the protein powder. I find the easiest way to mix them together and not leave any protein powder lumps is to use a rotary hand whisk. I find this to be the cleanest method, since it doesn’t splash if you keep the whisk immersed and you can generate a good mixing speed with the whisk.

You can also use a blender or a fork if you wish.

After that you simply add the berries. Frozen berries are the most economical and last in the freezer for months, but you just need to take a few out minutes beforehand and give them time to de-frost. You can also use fresh berries. I like to alternate between raspberries and blueberries, or add some of both.

If you like a crunchy texture you can then add some muesli, granola, chopped nuts or seeds.
