Spicy Homemade Beans

A delicious and nutritious dish you can throw together in 10 minutes for a quick meal any time of the day

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 red onion (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 clove garlic (peeled and finely sliced)
  • 1 can navy beans (drained)
  • 280 g tomato pasatta (14oz)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp oregano

Method
 

  1. Sauté the chopped onions and finely chopped garlic in oil on the pan until the onion starts to get soft
  2. Add the smoked paprika and chilli powder, stir in and cook for another few seconds.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients, stir well and bring to a boil
  4. Once the saue starts to bubble, turn down to a gentle simmer and cook for another 5 minutes
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  6. Serve with some good quality bread
